Michael Hiebert's new anthology of short stories spans various genres, from suspense to science fiction. He speaks in many voices--the abused child challenging his father, the doddering senior remembering his lost love, the depressed teen journeying to end her life. A master at developing character through dialogue, Hiebert creates emotions that range from humour to pathos. As with most anthologies, some stories are better than others, but when Hiebert hits the mark, it's a bullseye.
This is a wonderful anthology of short stories. The author might claim the collection has no theme but this reader is mesmerized by the possibilities. The short story format is a tight story telling technique that is perfect for this. Mr Hiebert does not dissapoint..
Most Amazing short stories I've ever read. Michael Hiebert's done it again. I felt like I was part of each story. I laughed, cried felt tears running down my face thinking about the old man. Each story was more intense than the next. I really hated for this book to end. I could see several turned in to full length novels. Kudos to my favorite author!
A fine collection of short stories, Michael Hiebert surely thinks outside the box !
